Update: 2 dead, 4 hospitalized after crash near Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento

Two people died and four others remain hospitalized after a crash Sunday night in downtown Sacramento, near Golden 1 Center.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near 7th and L streets around 8:20 p.m., Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Ryan Woo said.

One person died at the scene, according to Woo as well as a post from the Sacramento Fire Department.

Five others were transported to hospitals, one of whom died shortly after arrival, Woo said.

The remaining four victims’ injuries are not considered life-threatening, he said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased victims as Brian Freriks, 30, of Elk Grove and Ciara Navarro, 25, of Sacramento.

No arrests have been made, Woo said.
