See Rocklin police officers struggle to walk while testing alcohol impairment goggles
They’re not exactly beer goggles, but they do simulate intoxication levels.
Rocklin Police Department personnel tried a field sobriety test while wearing “alcohol impairment goggles” designed to elicit behaviors that are typical of people with elevated blood-alcohol content levels.
The video, released on Tuesday, shows three youth services officers struggling to walk in a straight line.
The Fatal Vision Alcohol Goggles run $159 each, according to the manufacturer’s website.
The goggles “deliver memorable lessons on topics like impaired driving, underage drinking, and other substance abuse issues,” according to the website. “Participants perform simple activities or sobriety tests without and then with the goggles. Performing the activities twice lets participants experience their performance while unimpaired and then impaired. The goggles cause the wearer to display behaviors that are typical of individuals impaired by alcohol at various BAC level.”
The video was posted on the Rocklin Police Department’s Facebook page. One person commented, “I absolutely love this. Great way to know what it’s like.”
