Rancho Cordova motorcyclist struck and killed on Interstate 5 after being ejected in collision
A 25-year-old man was struck and killed Tuesday night after he was ejected from his motorcycle in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 5 in Natomas.
The California Highway Patrol said the freeway collision occurred before 7 p.m. in the northbound lanes just before the Arena Boulevard exit when a vehicle struck the motorcycle from behind in the No. 3 lane.
The motorcyclist was ejected into the No. 2 lane and struck by a tractor-trailer, according to CHP officers. The motorcyclist, identified as a Rancho Cordova resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Thursday, the Cororner’s Office identified the victim as Brian Gabriel Feliciano.
The driver in the rear-end collision was hospitalized with moderate injuries after the vehicle careered into a freeway embankment, the CHP said. The driver of the big-rig was not injured and cooperated with officers at the scene.
The cause of the crash is not known but drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incidents, according to CHP investigators’ preliminary findings.
