Elderly person taken to hospital after Citrus Heights house fire, Metro Fire says

An overnight house fire in Citrus Heights sent an elderly victim to the hospital, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to a fire at a two-story home on Green Creek Way, with heavy fire on the second floor, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said in social media posts around 1:45 a.m. Friday.

The fire has been extinguished.

One victim, described by Metro Fire as elderly, was transported to a hospital. The extent of their injuries was not known.

No other injuries were reported, Metro Fire said, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
