Water rescue underway in American River near Fair Oaks Bridge, authorities say

Crews are responding to a water rescue effort in the American River near the Old Fair Oaks Bridge, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said Monday morning.

One victim is reportedly in the water near the pedestrian bridge, Metro Fire said in a tweet just before 10 a.m.

The bridge, which connects Gold River to Fair Oaks, is just northeast of the Sunrise Boulevard vehicle crossing.

No other details were immediately available.
