Driver killed after crashing into tree in Fruitridge Manor neighborhood of Sacramento

A driver died after his vehicle hit a tree late Wednesday night in Sacramento’s Fruitridge Manor area, police said.

Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Ryan Woo said authorities responded just before midnight to the 5900 block of 64th Street, near McMahon Drive, to reports of a vehicle into a tree,

Arriving officers located a man with serious injuries and attempted medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, and no other vehicles were reported, Woo said.

Detectives responded to the scene, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to Woo.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
