A man who died of a gunshot wound on a Sacramento street has been identified as Justin Oliphant by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The exact motive for the Sunday night killing of Oliphant, 27, is not known.
Sacramento police officers found Oliphant about 11 p.m. on Auburn Boulevard near Marconi Circle. He was pronounced dead by Sacramento Fire Department medical personnel.
Detectives believe Oliphant was confronted, then possibly chased just before he was shot. The assailants were last seen running on Marconi Circle toward the Capital City Freeway.
