Driver, 4 children injured after vehicle veers off Sacramento’s Capital City Freeway

A driver was seriously hurt and four children suffered minor injuries Monday evening after a vehicle veered off of the Capital City Freeway at the Marconi Curve and ended up in Sacramento’s Ben Ali neighborhood, authorities said.

The vehicle crashed as it was traveling along westbound Capital City Freeway near Marconi Avenue around 8:30 p.m. and came to rest on Connie Drive near Naomi Way, a residential area, the Sacramento Fire Department said in a tweet.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and hospitalized in critical condition, the Fire Department said. Four passengers, all children, were transported to hospitals with injuries described as minor.

No other details were immediately available.
