Paraplegic woman in stable condition after being rescued from south Sacramento house fire
A paraplegic woman is in stable condition after being critically injured Thursday in a south Sacramento house fire.
The fire began about 9:45 p.m. at a duplex on the 5200 block of Gordon Drive in the unincorporated Lemon Hill neighborhood, just west of Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road.
Firefighters entered through a back window of the duplex and rescued the victim from her bedroom, according to Capt. Keith Wade, a spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department. The fire was located in the living room area of the home, he said.
Personnel said the fire was contained to one unit in the building. The woman was hospitalized with critical injuries and is currently listed in “stable” condition, Wade said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
