Fire at Galt feed store kills young chickens

A fire in a feed store in Galt killed up to 150 young chickens Saturday, the Cosumnes Fire Department reported via Twitter.

Crews responded about 8:30 p.m. to reports of smoke coming from the warehouse area of a feed store at 4th and A streets. The blaze was soon extinguished without injury to firefighters or civilians, the department said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
