Motorcyclist killed after crash at Rosemont intersection, Sacramento Metro Fire says

Roadway fatality

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a truck Friday morning in Sacramento’s Rosemont neighborhood, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said.

Crews responded to a crash at the intersection of South Watt Avenue and Manlove Road, just south of Folsom Boulevard, Metro Fire said in a social media post shortly after 7:30 a.m.

The motorcyclist, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Michael Weddle, 58, of Cool — was pronounced dead at the scene, Metro Fire said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, according to Metro Fire.

The crash marked at least the second motorcycle fatality in the region Friday. Around 4:30 a.m., police in Roseville said one person was killed and another rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
