Power restored after outage affects 13,000 SMUD customers in Carmichael, Rancho Cordova

Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers who were affected by outage Tuesday afternoon have been restored, the utility reported.

SMUD’s outage page reported more than 13,834 homes and businesses lost power in the Carmichael, Fair Oaks and Rancho Cordova areas at 2:48 p.m. Power was restored to all customers just after 3:30 p.m.

SMUD officials said an overhead line was the likely cause of the outage.

“Line crews were able to respond and restore power safely and quickly,” said Gamaliel Ortiz, a spokesman for the utility.
