A man was found dead after a house fire Wednesday evening in Carmichael, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said.

One deceased victim was located after a fire broke out just before 9 p.m. at a home on Rampart Drive, Metro Fire spokesman Capt. Parker Wilbourn said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Wilbourn said, along with the exact cause of death pending an autopsy report. The victim was an adult male, he said.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

Metro Fire personnel remained at the scene until about 3 a.m. Thursday, Wilbourn said.
