Sacramento man, 42, killed in multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near Dixon, CHP says
A Sacramento man was killed and another was hospitalized with serious injuries following a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 near Dixon, California Highway Patrol officials said.
A Ford F-650 truck heading west on I-80 near Pedrick Road collided into the rear of a Ford F-450 pickup truck around 6:50 a.m., the CHP’s Solano office said in a news release.
The F-650 continued west and sideswiped a tractor-trailer, while the F-450 struck the metal guardrail on the center median, according to the news release.
The driver of the F-650, a 42-year-old Sacramento man, was pronounced dead at the scene by Solano County coroner’s officials. A 28-year-old Sacramento man riding in the F-650 was taken to a local hospital with “major” injuries,” the CHP said.
Four occupants of the F-450 pickup suffered minor injuries and did not require transport to a hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, according to the CHP collision report.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
The F-650 driver will be identified by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office pending notification of family.
