3-year-old dies, 2nd child and dad hurt after four-plex fire, Sacramento Metro Fire says
A 3-year-old child died and a child and father were injured Thursday after a fire burned a four-plex in Arden Arcade, fire officials said.
The fire was reported shortly before 10 a.m. in the 700 block of Carro Drive, just south of Northrop Avenue and west of Fulton Avenue.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters responded to fire, along with Sacramento Fire Department firefighters, said Capt. Parker Wilbourn, a Metro Fire spokesman.
Wilbourn said firefighters arrived and spotted heavy flames coming from the rear of the four-plex building. He said two children were inside the burning unit when the fire started.
The children’s father arrived and was able to pull one of the children out of the flames, but he was not able to reach the 3-year-old, Wilbourn said.
The children were taken by ambulance to a hospital. Wilbourn said Sacramento County sheriff’s officials confirmed the 3-year-old had died.
The father was injured by the flames, Wilbourn said.
A cause of the fire was under investigation.
