A popular takeout restaurant sustained damage after a fire ripped through a Carmichael building Thursday.

Elena’s Kitchen & Catering is a community mainstay with thousands of social media followers. It first opened its doors at the 6620 Madison Ave. location in 2017, and it operates a large industrial kitchen for its catering business.

Representatives from Elena’s could not immediately be reached for comment.

Firefighters were called to the building at Madison near Dewey Drive at 12:23 a.m. as the fire broke out in that industrial kitchen. Firefighters made quick work of the blaze, which saw flames shooting from the kitchen’s roof.

“Crews were able to control the incident and mitigate pretty fast,” said Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District spokesman Capt. Jordan Oaks.

No injuries were reported and no neighboring buildings were affected. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
