Here are 7 gas reward programs at Sacramento-area stations to help you save on fuel
The end to California’s soaring gas prices is not in sight yet, but you can remedy the strain on your wallet with rewards programs.
The average for regular gas in California is $6.43 as of Monday, a jump from $5.87 one month ago, according to the American Automobile Association. Sacramento’s average is not far from the statewide at $6.44.
Here are a few Sacramento-area gas stations and grocery stores with reward programs:
Shell Fuel Rewards program
Shell gas station has a free Fuel Rewards program where you can save at least $0.05 a gallon every time you fill up. All you need to do is sign up online. Then, you can use a Fuel Rewards card, alternate identification, or link your credit or debit card to your account.
Foods Co. Fuel Points
As a part of the Kroger Co. Family of Stores Loyalty Program, Foods Co. in Sacramento offers Fuel Points to save on gas. For every $1 purchase using the Foods Co. Shopper’s Card, you’ll get one fuel point. You can also get points for buying gift cards, pharmacy prescriptions and for online shopping at Foods Co.
Customers can redeem the points at gas centers and partner stations.
Circle K Easy Rewards
With Circle K Easy Rewards, you can earn 10 points per gallon of gas and 20 points per dollar spent on food and non-alcoholic beverages. Every 2,000 points is $2 Circle K Cash. You can sign up for free online or download a mobile app.
Safeway for U Rewards
Safeway has a rewards program where you can save on gas, groceries and get other free perks. Under the Safeway program, you can earn a point for every $1 spent on groceries and two points on every $1 spent on gift cards.
With every 100 points you get a reward that can be redeemed for $0.10 off a gallon of gas at participating stations.

Exxon Mobil Rewards+ Program
Members of the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ Program that buy more than 100 gallons of gas or diesel in a month can accumulate up to $0.07 a gallon in points. With every 100 points, you save $1.
You can also earn another $0.01 in points for every purchase if you link your AARP membership with the Exxon Rewards+ Program.

76 KickBack Rewards
At 76 gas stations, you can earn points from purchases at participating locations and then use them like cash on fuel via the KickBack Rewards program. You can apply for a free points card in store, online or through the My 76 app.
QuikStop EG Rewards Card
QuikStop’s EG Rewards Card lets you earn rewards from purchases in store and redeem them for discounts on fuel. You can save up to $1 per gallon with an in-store purchase, and also save $0.03 per gallon every time you get gas. Sign up for a card at a store.
