Crash disrupts light rail service in downtown Sacramento — RT puts bus bridges in place

Update: Sacramento RT officials said just after 6 p.m. that the vehicle had been cleared from the scene, but residual delays were expected Friday evening.

Original story: A vehicle crash on Friday afternoon has disrupted Sacramento Regional Transit light rail service downtown and riders were being directed to buses to take them to their destinations.

The crash, which did not involve any Sacramento Regional Transit trains, occurred at 8th and K streets, RT officials announced shortly after 5 p.m. in social media posts.

A bus bridge was put in place for riders on the Blue and Gold lines. RT officials said the bus bridge was in place on the Blue Line between 13th Street and Globe stations. Another bus bridge was in place for riders on the Gold Line between 13th Street and Sacramento Valley stations.

Riders on the Green Line should use local bus service, RT officials said.
