The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said crews were called around 2:50 p.m. to a fire burning near the 8600 block of Weyand Avenue in the Florin area. Several engines and a helicopter were able to stop forward progress on the blaze around 3:30 p.m., Metro Fire said.
Metro Fire had briefly dispatched additional units to protect nearby structures near Florin Perkins and Florin roads before getting a handle on the blaze, which burned about 3 acres, according to officials.
