‘Catastrophic’ crash with tree on Sunrise Boulevard kills motorist, injures passenger
One woman was killed Saturday after her car crashed into a tree in Rancho Cordova. The passenger, a man, is expected to survive.
Just before 2 a.m., the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to a crash on southbound Sunrise Boulevard near Gold Country Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found that a car had struck a tree causing “catastrophic damage,” according to a news release from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, which contracts with the city for police services.
Both driver and passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital. The driver succumbed to her injuries, while the passenger was expected to recover, the Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
