A vegetation fire burning several miles south of Davis caused smoky conditions to areas east of the blaze in Sacramento.

The fire started at 12:24 p.m. near the Yolo County Grasslands Regional Park Dog Park and Trail on County Roads 36 and 104, according to the Davis Fire Department.

Jenny Tan, a spokeswoman for the city of Davis, said around 4 p.m. that the fire had spread to about 100 acres, and multiple units from neighboring fire departments were assisting in fighting the blaze.

Tan said she was not aware of any injuries or structures threatened by the fire, and that the cause of the fire remained unknown.

Smoke from the fire was seen on Caltrans cameras in the areas west of the Capital City Freeway and the smell of smoke was detected in East Sacramento. Tan said it was possible that wind had blown smoke into the Sacramento area.
