Public invited to Saturday memorial for football star Spencer Webb at Christian Brothers
The family of Spencer Webb will host a public memorial Saturday at Christian Brothers High School to celebrate the life of the football star.
Webb died July 13 in a cliff diving incident near Eugene, Oregon. The University of Oregon tight end rose to stardom in Sacramento, receiving All-Metro and All-Decade accolades during his high school years at Christian Brothers. A rising college senior, he was expected to start for the Oregon Ducks this fall.
The Christian Brothers football team announced the public memorial in a social media post Thursday. The memorial will take place at 9 a.m.
“The Webb family lovingly invite you to a celebration of Spencer’s life,” the post reads. “All are welcome to attend.”
Webb’s former Christian Brothers coach Tyler Almond also circulated funeral information on social media. A viewing, graveside service and reception will all be held in Dixon next weekend.
Webb’s death shook Sacramento last week, with the star’s former coaches and teammates sharing their shock and sadness on social media and with The Bee. Dan Lanning, Webb’s coach at Oregon, tweeted ““So full of life in every moment of the day. Your smile and energy will be missed Spencer. I love you!”
Christian Brothers High School is located at 4315 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
