Driver, 72, killed in Sacramento County crash along Bruceville Road, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A Yolo County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in south Sacramento County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 72-year-old driver was heading westbound on Kammerer Road in a 2015 Ford pickup truck just after 3:30 p.m. when he failed to stop at the three-way “T” intersection with Bruceville Road, the CHP’s South Sacramento office said in a news release.

The pickup, traveling at unknown speed, “traveled through a wooden fence, and overturned,” CHP officials said. The crash ejected the driver into a nearby dirt field.

The driver was taken by fire department personnel to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the CHP said. His identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, authorities said.
