Plane lands without gear at McClellan Airport in Sacramento County, Metro Fire says
A single-engine plane made an emergency landing with its landing gear up Tuesday morning at McClellan Airport near North Highlands in Sacramento County, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
The plane, a Piper PA-28, lost power shortly after takeoff and had to return to the runway at McClellan, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said in a tweet.
“The pilot was able to guide the plane in with no landing gear, landing the plane on its belly,” Metro Fire said around 10:45 a.m. “No injuries or fuel leaks.”
Metro Fire showed photos of the white plane with green trim, sideways on the runway.
Registration records from the Federal Aviation Administration show the plane is owned by charter flight company based in Rocklin.
The runway was expected to reopen “shortly,” Metro Fire said.
