¡Viva México! See photos as hundreds celebrate Mexican Independence Day in Sacramento

Hundreds gathered at the Capitol in Sacramento to celebrate Mexican Independence Day on Thursday, marking the moment festive with music and dance.

Known as Grito de Dolores, “the cry of Dolores,” the celebration commemorates the call for independence issued by priest Miguel Hidalgo in the city of Dolores on Sept. 16, 1810.

The Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California, which hosted the event, estimated attendance at 2,000 people.
