Sacramento police closed Folsom Boulevard on Monday afternoon as officers investigated a four-vehicle collision involving a dump truck that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

A second involved person sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Police said the collision occurred in the 8200 block of Folsom Boulevard around 3:40 p.m. The road was closed in both directions for several hours between Bicentennial Circle and Notre Dame Drive.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, police said.

Folsom Boulevard eastbound lanes are open as of 7:35 p.m., according to police; westbound lanes should be opening shortly.
