See triathletes compete in Sacramento’s first Ironman

About 4,000 competitors swam, biked and ran along the Sacramento River on Sunday in the city’s first official Ironman triathlon.
The Ironman California started with 2.4-mile swim from Township 9 Park on the American River, with the course running through the confluence with the Sacramento River. On their bicycles, the athletes then completed a two-loop, 112-mile route through the Delta in Yolo County. The marathon segment followed the Sacramento and American rivers before finishing on Capitol Mall in downtown Sacramento.
Preliminary results showed Julien Boulain, of Italy, with the fastest overall time for men, at 8 hours, 53 minutes and 21 seconds. Liis Rametta, had the best overall time for women, at 9 hours, 33 minutes and 50 seconds.
Jennifer Chebi of Thousand Oaks said before the Ironman California in Sacramento on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, that she was happy to finally do her first triathlon after canceled races for her in Arizona and Sacramento.
