One person was killed in a structure fire Wednesday morning near Isleton, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded just before 1 a.m. to a two-alarm structure fire on Totem Drive with a victim trapped inside, the Rio Vista Fire Department said in a social media post.

The victim was found dead inside the structure, according to the post. Their identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

Responding crew attempting to rescue the victim “encountered heavy fire conditions and structural comprise,” according to the post. One firefighter fell partially through the floor of the structure, but was uninjured, according to the Fire Department.

The fire was contained shortly after 2 a.m. Its cause remains under investigation, the Fire Department said.

Totem Drive is located on Ida Island, an islet just west of Isleton along Highway 160.
