Flood advisory issued for Sacramento and surrounding area due to major winter storm
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory Saturday for seven counties in and around the Sacramento area due to the major winter storm hitting Northern California.
The weather service issued the advisory at 10:23 a.m. for Sacramento, San Joaquin, Placer, Colusa, Solano, Sutter and Yolo counties and is set to expire at 1:15 p.m.
Meteorologists said that urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall was expected. This extended to roadways that could see some flooding, the weather service said in a previous advisory.
Areas that are low-lying or prone to poor drainage could see some flooding, forecasters warned.
