2 hospitalized after SUV crashes into their booth at a Citrus Heights Dairy Queen

Two people were transported to the hospital on Monday after an SUV crashed into a Dairy Queen restaurant in Citrus Heights and struck the booth they were sitting in, authorities said.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded Monday afternoon to reports of a crash involving two vehicles, which sent an SUV into the Dairy Queen on the 6800 block of Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights.

A group of three customers was sitting at a booth inside the Dairy Queen when they were reportedly struck by the SUV that crashed through the wall of the restaurant. Two of them were transported to the hospital to be evaluated, according to the fire district.

The Citrus Heights Police Department is investigating the incident.

The Dairy Queen building sustained structural damage and officials were in the process of boarding it up Monday afternoon.
