Big rig crash closes southbound Interstate 5 near Sacramento International Airport
Southbound Interstate 5 was closed Monday morning near Sacramento International Airport following an overnight big rig crash, authorities said.
The tractor-trailer became fully engulfed in flames following a solo crash shortly after 3:30 a.m. on southbound I-5 near Airport Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol’s online activity log.
Both southbound lanes were closed due to clean-up efforts and emergency work, according to Caltrans and the CHP. One lane reopened just before 8:45 a.m.
Caltrans said the estimated time of full reopening is noon.
