A woman was killed and two other people were injured after a house fire Tuesday evening in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood, authorities said.

Crews responded to a fire at a single-story home in the 7900 block of Albion Way and arrived to find “heavy smoke and fire conditions on arrival with victims inside,” the Sacramento Fire Department said in a social media post shortly before 10 p.m.

A woman in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene, Fire Department spokesman Capt. Justin Sylvia said Wednesday morning.

A man in his 50s was taken to a hospital for burns to his feet, Sylvia said.

A third victim refused transport from ambulances that responded to the scene, but ended up going to a hospital later for smoke inhalation injuries, Sylvia said.

Investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. The cause of the fire remained unknown as of Wednesday morning, according to Sylvia.

The deceased victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
