Police investigating death of 3-year-old child at a Sacramento motel, authorities say

Breaking News

A 3-year-old child died Tuesday morning after being found unresponsive at an East Sacramento motel, police and fire officials said.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of 30th Street, Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman Officer Krista Koppinger said. The block is the location of a Motel 6 just east of the Capital City Freeway.

Sacramento Fire Department crews responded around 7:30 a.m. to the motel, spokesman Capt. Justin Sylvia said, and located the child unresponsive upon arrival, immediately performing CPR.

The child was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital, Sylvia said.

Detectives are investigating the child’s death, according to Koppinger. No further details on the investigation were immediately available, she said.
