Sacramento to start critical flood control work this week. Here’s when and where
The Sacramento Department of Utilities is starting critical infrastructure work throughout the city’s flood control systems, according to a news release Tuesday.
The project will begin Wednesday on Sea Forest Way, a road neighboring the Morrison and Strawberry creeks.
Flood control work will consist of the following:
▪ Vegetation management
▪ Removing debris that could potentially cause localized flooding
▪ Removing debris that block service roads
▪ Fence repairs
▪ Ditch repairs
▪ Bank inspections
The city’s effort is projected to take several weeks.
To ensure the safety of those working on the project, including people who may be camping in affected areas, the utilities staff is collaborating with the City Manager’s Office, City Attorney’s Office and the Department of Community Response.
“City departments are working in collaboration to not only help ensure success of the projects, but also to use the opportunity to connect with and provide resources to vulnerable members of our community,” said Nick Golling, the City’s Homeless Services Manager in the news release.
Below is a timeline with dates locations throughout Sacramento city will be worked on.
