Sacramento firefighters recover dead body found in flooded area of Discovery Park

Firefighters on Monday recovered the body of a man found dead in a flooded area of Discovery Park in Sacramento.

The Sacramento Fire Department was called shortly after 11:30 a.m. Monday to an area at the park near the 1100 block of Garden Highway.

Capt. Justin Sylvia, a Fire Department spokesman, said the body was found in the flooded area about 25 feet from firefighters could gain access. Areas at the park remain flooded from a deluge of rain in recent storms.

Sylvia said the firefighters were in about waist-high water levels when they were able to retrieve the body. He said the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene to take custody of the body and investigate the cause of death.

Christopher Allen Taylor, 40, was the man who was found dead Monday at the park, according to the Coroner’s Office. His city of residence was not available.
