At least one person was killed after a collision between an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train and a vehicle Tuesday morning on railroad tracks south of Davis, authorities said.

The crash happened near Tremont and Robben roads in Solano County, at a railroad crossing just east of Interstate 80 and northeast of Dixon city limits, according to an entry on the California Highway Patrol’s online activity log.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for at least one fatality, according to the CHP log.

A vehicle struck Train 531 of Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor line about 9:20 a.m., Amtrak spokeswoman Olivia Irvin said in an emailed statement. Train 531 runs from Sacramento to Oakland on weekday mornings, and Tuesday’s incident happened between the train’s Davis and Fairfield stops.

“The locomotive separated from the passenger cars on the train, but no major damage occurred to the equipment,” Irvin wrote. “Customers will be transferred to alternative transportation to get to their intended destination.”

An alert on the Amtrak website as of 11:30 a.m. said the train’s route has been canceled for the rest of the day due to the “vehicle incident.”

No passengers or crew members were injured, Irvin said. There were 62 people on the train at the time of the incident.

Video taken from the train showed the passenger cars were separated from the engine car on opposite sides of a crossing at Tremont and Robben. Both appeared to remain on the tracks.
