Sacramento temperatures could rise 20 degrees this week. Is warm weather here to stay?
It may be finally time to swap rain boots for open-toed shoes.
According to the National Weather Service, valley temperatures are forecast to gradually warm between 20 and 25 degrees by the weekend. Saturday is forecast to be the hottest day of the year in Sacramento so far with a low of 54 degrees and a high of 83.
As of Wednesday morning, the forecast was clear and sunny with temperatures predicted to rise from a high of 65 degrees to 82 degrees Sunday. Meteorologist Katrina Hand with the weather service said the city should start warming up Thursday with a high of 72 degrees and then by Friday, temperatures could reach above normal for this time of year.
The trend could continue into at least early next week with mostly clear, sunny skies and 80-degree weather.
It’s difficult to tell at this point if warm temperatures are here to stay, Hand said, but the stronger ridging building into early next week has the potential to keep temperatures up.
If you’re concerned about rain, don’t be. At least not for the remainder of April.
Sacramento saw little precipitation for the month of April and “it doesn’t look like we’ll see anything” in the area. According to the Sacramento rain meter, it rained .17 inches this month.
The normal is 1.44 inches.
