North Highlands woman dead following head-on crash on Forty Mile Road near Wheatland
A female motorist from North Highlands died Saturday in a two-vehicle crash near Wheatland.
The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. in Yuba County near the entrance to the Toyota Amphitheatre, according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol’s Sutter-Yuba office.
Two vehicles, a Mazda 6 sedan and a Dodge Ram 3500, were involved in the head-on collision on Forty Mile Road near Hoffman Plumas Road, according to officers.
The crash occurred after the woman driving the Mazda northbound made an “unsafe turning movement to the left” into the southbound lane. The driver of the pickup, an 88-year-old Brownsville man, suffered a broken leg, the release said.
It was unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role, the release said.
