These Sacramento streets will close for weekend fitness event. Here’s where to avoid
More than 4,000 people are expected to flood the streets of midtown and downtown Sacramento on Sunday, prompting road closures in the area.
The Kaiser Permanente Women’s Fitness Festival will shut down roads as early as 7 a.m. ahead of the 7:30 a.m. 5K and 10K race on Ninth Street, between L Street and Capitol Mall. A new set of participants will flood the streets again starting at 9:30 a.m. for the half-mile kids’ run.
After the race, participants will receive medals, breakfast and drinks in the mimosa garden and complimentary health screenings, according to the fitness festival’s website. There will also be a fitness expo filled with vendors.
All streets will reopen “when safe and participants are done,” said Gabby Miller with the Sacramento City Manager’s Office in an email to The Bee.
