Free yoga and Pilates classes at Sacramento parks this summer: Here’s where to find them

You can get a boost and re-center yourself at a free outdoor fitness class this summer at one of Sacramento’s many parks.

Here is a list of classes, where to find them and how to sign up:

Midtown Association

Midtown association is hosting yoga, Pilates, meditation and boot camp classes at Fremont park this year. All classes are free and aim to “encourage an active and mindful lifestyle.”

No registration is required to participate in the classes. Simply show up ready to workout.

Below is the class schedule at Fremont Park:

  • Meditation with Vrindavan: Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Yoga with Yoga Moves Us: Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Bootcamp: First, third and fourth Wednesday of the month from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Zumba with Tina: Second Wednesday of the month from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Zumba with Jackie: Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Yoga Moves Us

The Sacramento non-profit, Yoga Moves Us, is hosting donation-based outdoor yoga classes through September at various parks throughout Sacramento. To participate you’ll need to complete an online waiver, then you can sign up for a class. Upon signing up you’ll be asked for an optional donation.

Below is a the schedule of the classes throughout Sacramento parks:

Fremont Park: Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6 p.m.

McKinley Park: Saturdays starting at 9 a.m.

Midtown Farmers Market in the WEAVE parking lot: Second Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

North Natomas Regional Park: Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

McClatchy Park in Oak Park: Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

North Laguna Creek Park in South Sac: Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Davis Community Park: Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

West Sac Demonstration Garden in West Sacramento: Saturday at 9 a.m.

Sutter’s Fort: Friday starting at 6 p.m.

Royer Park in Roseville: Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Tahoe Park: Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

Old Sacramento Waterfront: Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

Wednesday at Winn

You can re-center yourself midweek at the Winn Park community event series, operated by the Midtown Association. During the summer months, the park will host a weekly farmers market that also hosts two free weekly fitness classes. Registration isn’t required, you just need to show up.

Below are the scheduled times for the classes:

  • Weight training starting at 4:30 p.m.
  • Community yoga starting at 5:45 p.m.
