It’s always exciting to find something that fits directly into your niche of interests and, this month, Sacramentans who identify both as Kings fans and as avid readers are in for a treat.

Beginning Thursday, all 28 Sacramento Public Library locations will be offering a limited-edition library card featuring the Golden 1 Center’s lit-up victory beam in partnership with the Sacramento Kings.

The purple cards will be available to all Sacramento County residents, including both current and new cardholders, and can be picked up during regular hours of operation while supplies last. For current cardholders, the new card would replace the old. Others can apply for a card online before picking it up at their local library.

In addition to checking out physical books, movies and magazines, cardholders can borrow digital items from their phones via Libby or Hoopla, borrow household tools, cameras, instruments and more from the Library of Things, gain access to free or discounted California museum and state parks admission and more.

Community members can also log their reading to earn Summer Reading Challenge badges and prizes through Aug. 15. And if you want to keep the sports theme going, the library has got you covered with a curated list of sports-related titles, from “Dragon Hoops” to “Canyon Dreams.”
