CHP arrests man accused of killing pedestrian in North Highlands hit-and-run

California Highway Patrol officers made an arrest Thursday following a fatal hit-and-run in North Highlands.

Officers responded the area of Watt and Orange Grove avenues just after 9 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck in the roadway.

When officers arrived, the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene, said Officer Justin Fetterly, spokesman for the CHP’s North Sacramento division.

The woman was transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Fetterly said she has not been identified, but is described as a woman in her late 20s or early 30s.

Fetterly said officers located the suspected motorist, who was arrested.
