Grass Valley man arrested for assault with metal pipe in Auburn, causing brain injury
A person was hospitalized in Auburn after being struck multiple times with a metal pipe, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said.
Placer deputies responded to a hospital in Auburn after receiving a report of an assault on Aug. 30, the Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post. During their investigation, deputies learned the victim had been assaulted on Lincoln Way and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
The victim was transported to the hospital and underwent surgeries.
Detectives identified the suspect as a 31-year-old Grass Valley man, the Sheriff’s Office said. After locating the pipe near the crime scene, detectives advised the man through his attorney to turn himself in at the Auburn Jail.
The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, the Sheriff’s Office said.
