Is midtown Sacramento still getting a new Italian bistro? Update on New York expansion
Construction is underway for the newest pizza joint in Sacramento, more than a year after the New York City restaurant announced its expansion.
Pazza Notte Restaurant announced in 2022 that it would open a second location by last spring at 1801 L St. in midtown. As of Saturday, the inside of the storefront is covered with plastic wrap and paint cans with no update on when the business will officially open its doors to customers.
According to a poster taped to the inside of the shop, the East Coast Italian bistro and bar is “coming soon.”
Pazza Notte Restaurant owner Tove Nord wasn’t immediately available for comment.
“This neighborhood really spoke to us,” the Sacramento native said in a 2022 news release. “It has all the elements we were looking for, great local culture, super charming streets, diverse residents and great restaurants and bars...we are in good company.”
The 2,891-square-foot space will feature a brick oven, happy hour and a DJ, according to a 2022 news release.
More than 3,000 miles away near Manhattan’s Central Park, the original brick and mortar has been whipping up recipes inspired by a fusion of Italian and American comfort food — brick oven pizza, pasta and housemade gelato — for more than 20 years. Prices range from a $10 side of truffle parmesan fries to a $31 plate of pasta with lobster, shrimp, crab, asparagus and tomatoes.
“Pazza Notte celebrates all things Italian, the food, the hospitality, the warm and inviting culture,” the New York-based restaurant wrote on its Facebook page.
The eight different types of thin crust pizzas range from $22 to $27 with goat cheese, barbecue chicken, truffle and smoked gouda. The drink menu is extensive, with choices of wines, martinis, beer and champagne.
