Motorcyclist, 18, dies in crash with vehicle on Sunrise Boulevard in Rancho Cordova

A motorcyclist died Wednesday evening after a crash with a vehicle on Sunrise Boulevard in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said.

Kristofer James Meyers, 18, of Orangevale, died in the Rancho Cordova crash, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The crash was first reported shortly before 6 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Sunrise on the Highway 50 overpass, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Gandhi said Meyers was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no further information available about the events leading to the fatal crash.

Authorities closed multiple lanes of Sunrise Boulevard, a major thoroughfare, as officers continued to work at the scene. The lanes were reopened by 9:20 p.m., Gandhi said.

Rancho Cordova police will be investigating the deadly crash. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is contracted to provide police services for Rancho Cordova.
