Haunted houses, pumpkin patches and spooky events in Sacramento: Here’s your guide to fall
You might not see it yet, with the leaves still green and temperatures warm(ish), but fall is here in Sacramento.
There are a handful of activities around the city to help you and your family get into the season’s spirit. Whether you’re looking for a picturesque autumn or a thrilling scream, here’s what to know:
Haunted houses and adventures
The Sacramento area is hosting several haunted events, including Scream Park.
Running on select days throughout October to Nov. 5, Scream Park features different haunted-themed attractions, including an asylum and a “House of Phobia,” according to its website. It’s located at 4909 Auburn Blvd and is not recommended for kids under 12 years old.
Tickets are sold online, with general admission prices starting at $19.99.
Heartstoppers, another haunted house, is returning to Sacramento this year at 300 Mine Shaft Lane, Rancho Cordova, its website stated. Thrills are brought to you by train actors, animatronics, mazes and a ghost town carnival. There are four different attractions, including a new “Misery Mine” that takes you into “narrow, claustrophobic tunnels, shrouded in complete darkness.”
Tickets are on sale online for dates to the end of October. Prices start at $33 per person for general admission. Children under 13 need to be with a guardian if they are going into the haunted houses.
Other haunts include:
- Corbett’s House of Horror at 46500 County Road 32B, Davis. It opens on Oct. 6 and tickets are sold by tier based on how many attractions you want to go into. It’s for all ages.
Paranormal Cirque II is coming to Citrus Heights from Friday to Monday. Tickets start at $20 and you must be 13 or older.
River Fox Train
The River Fox Train in West Sacramento presents the Pumpkin Patch Express. The train, which boards at 18095 County Rd 117, West Sacramento, will take you and your family through Yolo County farmlands.
There will also be trick-or-treating, carnival games, races, costume contests and a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin.
Tickets are available online throughout October and start at $59 for people 3 years old and up. Kids 2 and under are $11.
Pumpkin patches
Farms across the region are unveiling their pumpkin patches for the season.
You can try Dave’s Pumpkin Patch at Vierra Farms in West Sacramento where there will be mazes, pig races and pony rides; or you can venture out to Keema’s Pumpkin Farm in Elk Grove.
