Authorities recover body of man from Sacramento River. Sheriff’s Office IDs him as 54-year-old

Drowning incident depicts emergency personnel in boats on water

Authorities have recovered the body of a man who fell Sunday into the Sacramento River and never resurfaced.

The Sacramento Fire Department went to the 3500 block of Garden Highway just after 6 p.m. after getting a call from the man’s family. They reported the man was walking on the front of a 20-foot boat while it was moving and fell into the water, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department.

Fire personnel searched the waters for about one hour and then switched into recovery mode, Sylvia said.

About 3 p.m. Monday, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said authorities had recovered the body of the man, identified as Darren Miller, 54.
