Free Halloween tours offered at Sacramento’s Leland Stanford Mansion. Here’s how to sign up

The Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park has opened its doors to visitors for 12 days of Halloween-themed tours in October, according to a Friday news release.

The California State Parks along with Gov. Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel are welcoming guests to the historic mansion. Visitors can expect Halloween decorations throughout the rooms and stories that may include some “supernatural surprises,” according to the State Parks release.

The Victorian-era mansion was built in 1856 by Sheldon Fogus a Gold Rush merchant, according to the release. It was later purchased by Leland Stanford, who also served as California governor from 1862 to 1863.

Tours started Oct. 20 and will continue through Oct. 31 at the mansion at 800 N St. in Sacramento.
