Why is the Chick-fil-A in Arden Arcade still closed? What we know about the reconstruction
You’ll have to wait a little longer to get fried chicken sandwiches and waffle fries from the only Chick-fil-A location in Arden Arcade.
In August, the Georgia-based fast food chain closed the doors to Sacramento County’s more than 4,000-square-foot space at 2101 Alta Arden Expressway for reconstruction. According to a July 2022 document from the county’s Planning and Environmental Review, the remodel will include a second drive-thru lane and a 580-square-foot expansion to the original building’s interior.
New signage and parking lot improvements are also in the works, the county wrote.
Chick-fil-A wasn’t available for comment.
“Restaurants are prioritized for renovation based on capacity and age,” according to the fast food chain.
Updates typically include larger kitchens, additional drive-thru lanes, new counters, awnings and furniture. Freestanding locations generally undergo at least one large renovation within a 30-year lifespan.
During temporary closures, some employees are placed at other locations while others receive compensation.
When will the Chick-fil-A in Arden Arcade reopen?
The location could reopen later this year, the fast food chain wrote to customers in September on its Instagram page.
As of Monday morning, the entire storefront, including the parking lot and drive-thru has been gutted and replaced with wired fencing, construction equipment and portable bathrooms. The large brown building is bare and the red cursive lettering that spells out “Chick-fil-A” has been removed.
There are eight other freestanding Chick-fil-A locations across the Sacramento area, including restaurants in Delta Shores, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Roseville, Folsom, Rocklin and Granite Bay.
Chick-fil-A is known for its variety of chicken entrees including grilled and fried sandwiches and nuggets. Also on the menu: breakfast burritos and biscuits, salads, macaroni and cheese, soups and wraps.
The new Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich ($7.75) topped with honey, pimento cheese and pickled jalapenos was added to the menu a couple of months ago.
