Rain is on its way back to Sacramento. What to expect (and when to clean your gutters)
Sacramento is in store for another rainy weekend.
The National Weather Service is forecasting rain to come into the area at the end of the week and officials are suggesting residents clean their gutters and drains before it arrives.
“There is a slight chance you can see a stray shower Friday as the system moves through, but the better chances to see any appreciable precipitation are going to be Saturday and Sunday,” said Nathan Rick, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
Rain could start as soon as Thursday in the area, according to the weather service.
“We could see a couple hundredths of an inch, maybe two-tenths of an inch, on Thursday and Friday,” Rick said. “But the likelihood of that is fairly low.”
Leading up to the rain on Thursday, temperatures in the Sacramento area will be a little warmer than normal, Rick said, teetering in the low to mid 70s, according to the five-day forecast.
Come Saturday temperatures will cool off into the 60s and a chance of rain is forecast Saturday through at least Monday.
The foothills will see much of the same, but with stronger rain starting Friday, according to forecasts.
Will the storm bring snow to Northern California?
Parts of Northern California, specifically near Lassen, may see some snow over the weekend with the storm coming in, Rick said.
However, for the Tahoe area there is a slight chance of rain to start Friday and continue into the weekend, according to the five-day forecast.
